Monsieur Hulot is a french character always wearing a trench coat, a pipe and a hat, with a distinctive lurching walk. His creator was comic Jacques Tati, who also played the character for his hilarious films Les Vacances de Monsieur Hulot (1953), Mon Oncle (1959), Playtime (1967) and Trafic (1971). With no access to internet, iphones, blogs, tweeter, facebok, the content of his films were truly ahead of his time, they usually involved clashes with technology and the problems of living in an increasingly impersonal and gadgetized world.
